Words of Wisdom

Human character is a mirror reflection of various complex thoughts which arises in human mind. It may be said that most of those thoughts are responsible for creating a layer of false ego, greed, lust, envy and hypocrisy to some degree in every individual. As per my understanding these thoughts are a major barrier to know our true selves. Some of us try to portray ourselves as very loving, caring, helpful and liberal. But, as a matter of fact these feelings are actually hallow unless it’s backed up and reflecting our crystal clear mindset. I would rather put it in a way, that if we truly feel love for others and care for them then there will not be any form of expectation for return in any form whatsoever.

Discover yourself – Quest for the truth

In today’s modern society there’s a general perception of people towards finding inner peace, happiness and contentment based on their assumption about things or situations which gives happiness according to their own mindset and desires. As we are living in a world surrounded by many gadgets, which has robbed us from our natural self and has given rise to consumerism on a material platform. But in the process to find happiness and satisfaction in things we have actually forgotten our real self along with the purpose of our existence. In this rat race for finding inner happiness we have actually lost our basic human essence in our action, thoughts and speech. We have set our mind on a single track of utilizing people for getting material benefits which we assume to give happiness. More over we have undervalued our basic nature of happiness, contentment, blissfulness, love and inner peace by giving importance to those things which only has the capability to give us temporary happiness and permanent frustration. It’s time that we should sit and introspect about our true self and break away from the darkness of illusionary happiness of material happiness and work for inner satisfaction, peace of mind, love and happiness for the betterment of self, humanity and our planet.

Vegetarian protein sources – Protein rich vegetarian food | 11 High protein vegetarian food sources

Plant Protein vs Animal protein

More and more people today are choosing a Vegetarian / Vegan diet. And this may be due to various reasons – health concerns, religious issues or simply to avoid cruelty against animals. It is widely believed, even today, however that meat is a ‘complete protein’ which contains all the essential amino acids. So is meat the ideal source of protein for the human body? Does sole dependence on plant proteins make the human body weaker? Let us briefly discuss a few points that can help dispel these myths.

  1. The human body cannot utilize pure protein such as that which is found in chicken, fish, poultry, etc. This protein has to be further broken down into amino acids which is a very complicated process. This additional effort required to break down proteins is taxing to our bodies and contributes to aging. That is why people who intake a lot of protein always look older because breaking down the additional proteins tires the body’s organs and decays them. It enlarges the Kidneys and the liver as they try to compensate and excrete the extra amount of protein.

Cholesterol – how is Cholesterol tested? Symptoms and Treatment

What is Cholesterol ?

Cholesterol is a waxy fat-like chemical compound that the body requires as its building blocks for its cell membranes and hormones such as estrogen and testosterone. About 80% of the Cholesterol is produced by the liver and the rest comes from one’s dietary sources. While it is needed for good health, too much cholesterol is harmful for the arteries and also increases the risk of one’s heart disease. Dietary sources like meat, eggs, fish, poultry and dairy products are a rich source of cholesterol. It must also be noted that foods derived from plants contain no cholesterol.

Facts

  • Some cholesterol is needed by the body in order to build its cell membranes, to make hormones such as estrogen and testosterone, to create vitamin D, and other substances that help in digesting food. However too much cholesterol is harmful for one’s body as it clots the arteries and leads to coronary artery disease.
  • When the cholesterol present in one’s body is very high, then it is accumulated in deposits called plaque inside the walls of arteries, causing them to become reduced in size. This enhances the possibility of heart disease, stroke and peripheral artery disease.
  • How is cholesterol tested? – A high cholesterol can be detected by conducting a simple blood test. Care should be taken to test for the disease at regular intervals.
